Selected Experience in Law Firm Support

Assisted an external law firm with drafting a response to the European Commission's sector inquiry on retail banking.

Researched and presented a commercial view on whether Scheme-Branded only cards could be issued in China without China Union Pay branding. Also presented a view on whether the cards would be blocked for domestic use and were meant for overseas use only. Lastly, researched and prepared a commercial view (in consultation with regulators and lawmakers) on whether Travel cards could be distributed and sold as foreign exchange products through retail channels.

Provided support to a large online betting and gaming operation in Europe in preparation and application for an e-money license with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in the UK. Conducted a gap analysis, developed a workplan, prepared the application documents, and completed the application process with the FSA. Worked closely with the client's law firm throughout the engagement.
